Picked up the glass from that workshop thing a couple of weeks ago. As promised, here are photos of everything. I put them behind cut-tags so as not to overwhelm anyone's friends list. Click on each image for a larger view.

Most of the pieces are on clear glass, with a few minor exceptions that I will mention.

The local paint-your-own-pottery place (which has a bunch of different crafts available), where I took the glass-fusing class a few years ago, had a "Glass Bash" last night: all the glass projects you can fit into an 18" square pizza box, for about half the price that that much glass would normally be. I just got back from several days in Corning, New York, in the Finger Lakes region. The big draw was the Corning Museum of Glass and its glassmaking Experiences. I picked up the remaining pieces from the glass fusing class today. They came out great.

The dolphin bowl is 7" square, and rather flat for a bowl but too curved to be a good plate.

Third and final glass class was tonight. They brought out all the really gorgeous materials. Some of it was specifically for the the official project, jewelry: dichroic glass and tiny millefiore pieces. I don't wear earrings or bracelets and almost never wear pendants anymore, so I opted to use the equally gorgeous swirly glass that they also had ( Read more... )

Tonight's glass fusing class project was described as bowls, but they were actually square, 7" instead of the 10" we did last week. The official project was a bunch of birds on wires, but no more than half the class made those. I opted for a dark blue dolphin (and baby) on white instead, one of the ideas that started spinning in my brain after last ( Read more... )
